It all started when...

Graham parked his 48 foot converted fishing trawler next to Gillian's 46 foot ocean going yacht. With the boats combined length of 96 feet and weight of 56 tonnes the possibility of tying the boats up together was zero. Another way of living together and keeping at least one of the boats needed to be found.

The solution is Miners Camp. Our beautiful 16 acre farm set in  Endeavour Inlet, Queen Charlotte Sound that is right on the magnificent Queen Charlotte Track.

Pigelo and Basil were born on the night of the Kaikoura earthquake on Nuggety Creek Farn, Canvas Town. We call them the Nuggety Bros.  They are free range happy boys that love company and a scratch around the ears.

Chooks - our garden helpers

We have lots of chooks and therefore lots of beautiful fresh free range eggs for sale. Most of the chooks are in tractors that we move across the paddocks. We add a lot of greens each day and when they move they leave a lovely rich layer of organic matter, thoroughly fertilized. The lovely organic matter attracts worms and improves the pasture. Over winter the chooks live in the garden where they do all the winter weeding and fertilizing ready for us to replant in spring.

Antimony Mine Entrance

Antimony Mine Walk - 1 hour Return

Cross the stream and walk through regenerating native bush to view the Antimony Mine. Although not operational for quite some years, there were 3 different groups of geologists up surveying the mine last year!

Titirangi Road walk - 2 hours up

This track continues on from the Antimony mine (about 1 hour 15 mins to Titrangi road from the mine). Walk through virgin bush with stands of native trees that are many hundreds of years old. Before the top there is a beautiful lookout over Port Gore and Cape Jackson. Turn around and you can see back over Endeavour Inlet. From the lookout to the road is very steep, the lookout may be as far as you want to go.

Our Renovation Projects

In October 2016 we purchased Miners Camp. Our 16 acre farm with an orchard. The house was a 1970's 2 bedroom bungalow with a more modern games room off the deck. The games room is now our bunk room, a favorite with family groups doing the queen Charlotte Track. The camp is in the orchard and now has a hot shower and washing up facilities all in among the trees. We have stocked the farm and put in an extensive garden, both providing a wide variety of amazing food that we serve to our guests.
