Set in a beautiful family grown fruit garden, Miners Camp is surrounded by big green hedges that provide shelter. Tent sites are nestled amongst 16 species of fruit and nut trees.

About 4.5 hours walk from Ship Cove and right on the Queen Charlotte Track. There's a local Bar 20 mins walk. 

You will see our big green hedges as you cross the swing bridge.

About

It all started when...

Graham parked his 48 foot converted fishing trawler next to Gillian's 46 foot ocean going yacht. With the boats combined length of 96 feet and weight of 56 tonnes the possibility of tying the boats up together was zero. Another way of living together and keeping at least one of the boats needed to be found.

The solution is Miners Camp. Our beautiful 16 acre farm set in  Endeavour Inlet, Queen Charlotte Sound that is right on the magnificent Queen Charlotte Track.

Accommodation

Miners Camp provides a variety of accommodation, from tent sites to a bunk room and one double room.

The camp ground is in our family orchard which is beautifully sheltered from all winds.

We are a very short distance from the sea so perfect for kayakers.

There is plenty of sheltered storage for kayaks and cycles.

$15 per person - includes free hot shower

$20 tent hire plus camp fee per person.

$20 caravan hire (basic) includes BBQ, plus camp fee per person, includes free shower - sleeping bags required.

Bunk Room

4 bunk beds are available.

The room has an ensuite toilet and the shower is in the house. It also contains fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, comfortable couch and chairs, heater and a pool table. An additional couch can be pulled out into a futon like bed for larger groups.

$35 per person if you have your own sleeping bag

$45 per person if you would like bedding

Double Room

Especially for couples or young families.

$65 for the double bed and additional $25 for upper bunk bed if required.

Wessex Saddleback Piglets

Pigelo and Basil were born on the night of the Kaikoura earthquake on Nuggety Creek Farn, Canvas Town. We call them the Nuggety Bros.  They are free range happy boys that love company and a scratch around the ears.

Chooks - our garden helpers

We have lots of chooks and therefore lots of beautiful fresh free range eggs for sale. Most of the chooks are in tractors that we move across the paddocks. We add a lot of greens each day and when they move they leave a lovely rich layer of organic matter, thoroughly fertilized. The lovely organic matter attracts worms and improves the pasture. Over winter the chooks live in the garden where they do all the winter weeding and fertilizing ready for us to replant in spring.
